EXAM COURSE

The exam course comprises 26*45 minutes of private lessons. Young learners will have lessons 5 days a week in the morning and 3 days a week they will also have classes in the afternoon. The exam preparation course covers all sections of the relevant exam. The young people will be expected to participate actively in the lessons. This course also includes a mock exams to help the learners develop a sense of time management. They will quickly notice the progress they have made, encouraging and motivating them to learn.

The young learners can also enjoy a leisure program during the week and on the weekend, as well as practical language sessions with their teacher, their teacher’s family and friends.

This course prepares young people for all German exams offered by Goethe, telc and the Swiss Matura. Teachers are selected according to their experience level with the target exam. Moreover, all German telc exams can be taken immediately after the course at our partner school in Bamberg, either on the standard exam dates or on pre-arranged individual dates at extra cost.

If you are interested in the exam course for your child, we recommend contacting us early. This will allow us time to determine the optimal length and intensity of the Home Tuition program to effectively prepare your child for their exam. Should time for the program be limited, we recommend taking German lessons online via Skype before or after the stay in Germany. Your child will have lessons with the teacher from the Home Tuition program. The advantage – when your starts his home tuition course in Germany, the teacher will very well know the level of German and your child will already know who will be teaching him in Germany.

Timetable

After breakfast at 8:30, we get down to work at 9:00. German lessons last until lunchtime with a short 30 minute break mid-morning. Lesson times are from Monday to Friday: 9: 00-10: 30, break, 11: 00-12: 30. That’s 4*45 minutes per day and 20*45 minutes per week. On 3 afternoons per week there are also lessons from 15: 00-16: 30, adding up to 2*45 minutes each afternoon or 6*45 minutes per week. There are no lessons at the weekend.

Lunch is at about 13:00. After that, the young people will have time to themselves, with nothing on the agenda until 15:00.

Afternoon lessons start at 15:00. Lessons in the afternoon are used to practice and consolidate the content learned in the morning. This means that additional time for homework is generally unnecessary. The two afternoons without afternoon classes are set aside for leisure activities, which usually take place between 16:00 and 19:00. On days with lessons in the afternoons, there will still be time for shorter activities, e.g. a brief bike ride, a refreshing swim or ball games.

Dinner with the family is around 19:00. There will be time to socialize after dinner, talking or playing games together. Alternatively, young people can go to the cinema, go bowling, take an evening walk or enjoy a tour of the town at night.

Below is a typical weekly schedule for a week on the exam course. A mix of 26*45 lessons per week, practical language sessions and a leisure program. Alternatively, an exam course with 24*45 lessons per week is also offered. In this case, lessons in the afternoon take place on two days a week.

While we offer many opportunities to speak German, we will be happy to adapt them to the interests of the individual. Beside having fun and relax they all serve to have a full immersion into German

Practice and Leisure

The practical sessions during all meals and after complement the one-to-one lessons perfectly. They are an ideal opportunity to practise vocabulary and grammar in a natural social situation. The teacher will listen discreetly, provide motivation and support, and take note of what needs to be consolidated in class again. That’s what makes the Home Tuition program one of the most effective and efficient ways to learn German. The young language learners do not only live in a German environment, but also always have a professional German teacher on hand.

The integrated leisure program provides a good mental and physical balance to the lessons, but also gives the young people an idea of typical German life. After all, it’s not just about learning a new language, it’s also about getting to know the country. Seeing and experiencing a host of new things are an important element of a successful course.
